4 Man Enduro Event @ Foxborough

This past weekend saw the annual 4 man enduro take place at Foxborough Quarry. The event was hosted by the Sudbury Motorcycle Club and they did a fantastic job with the event having to run under strict time constraints due to some previous noise complaints. The weather even decided to play ball this year, as last year was an absolute washout with rain all day but this year we were fortunate enough to have stunning temperatures nearing the 30 degree Celsius mark, although that made for some tough conditions to race in and even run in as the event requires some running in full mx gear to and from bikes while doing change overs between team mates.

The event started at 9AM sharp and the first batch of riders headed off into the woods to scarp for the top placings while the rest of the team members waited in the pit box generally getting prepared and ready for a fast change over if you were lucky enough to be in a well organised team. I did hear a rumour that 1 team had there rider come in and the rest of the team were all sitting in sun chairs with sunglasses on, tanning and  enjoying life (Mr Dale Gladwin) almost forgetting that they were in the middle of a race.

How it worked was 1 rider would be out on the track completing as many laps as possible in the short 15 minute time period, and then once there time was up they would ride into the far end of the pit box, where another team mate was supposed to be waiting for you ( providing they not on sun chairs ) to hold your bike while you get off and run all the way down the pit lane to then meet the team mate who was taking over. You would then quickly hand over your timing chip wrist band and he would then run off down the opposite way of the pit lane to his bike, where your 4th team mate would have it started up and waiting for you to get on it and head off into the woods ( again providing they not all tanning on sun chairs ). This same process would go on and on every 15mins with each rider getting a turn to ride once every hour. The race went on for 4hours total and eventually the final chequers flagged was waved at 1PM.  The team with the most completed laps total in the 4hours was the winner and then all the way down the order respectively.

Overall it was a great day had by all and the event was a success with almost no injuries and everybody having a good day out on the bike. One of the perks of the event finishing early due to time constraints, was that after the event there was still enough of the day left to enjoy the sun shine and numerous riders headed to the beach afterwards to cool down.

Thanks to Sudbury Motorcycle Club for hosting the event and to all those who gave up there day to help run the event and set up and pull it down afterwards.
