GH Motorcycles @ Rd 1 – Eastern Centre Enduro Championship

Round 1 of the GH Motorcycles Husqvarna Eastern Centre Enduro Championships was held at the popular Thetford Forest course and run by Diss MCC who did another sterling job! Overnight the conditions were freezing with frost on the ground at the start of the event. Fortunately the sky stayed clear allowing the winter sun to take the edge off of the cold leaving track conditions PERFECT!

GH Motorcycles were represented in the Championship Class with Aston Bird & Steve Mason, Expert Class with Will Hughes and Expert Veteren Over 40’s by GH Motorcycles owner Gavin Hockey.
How they got on…
A new but not unfamiliar addition to our team for the 2015 season is Aston Bird on his 2015 Suzuki RM-Z450. Aston managed a fantastic 3rd place (1st in Centre) position in the Championship Class on his debut ride following his return to the sport after a two year hiatus. Aston now goes into Rd 2 of the series at Butley with the lead and a 5 point gap.
Steve Mason returns to the team for the 3rd year running on board a Husqvarna FE350. After sustaining a nasty knee injury during the 2014 season Steve was looking to get things back on track at Round 1. Steve managed a 15th (8th in Centre) dropping just 1 minute the whole event! An excellent performance after undergoing knee surgery not long ago!
Will Hughes was our only representation in the Expert Class at Thetford Forest on board his Husqvarna TE 250. Will managed a 6th place (? in centre) finish dropping 2 minutes throughout the day. Will had a great ride but unfortunately dropped the bike on the second special test which cost him a couple positions.
Owner of GH Motorcycles Gavin Hockey, now in the Veterens over 40’s class after holding out in the Championship Class for 8 years was looking to grab a good result in this newly formed class at Round 1 on his Husqvarna FE450. Gavin managed the quickest test time in class and picked up a 2nd place finish. Gavin will be looking for that first place finish at Round 2 and puts his failure at victory down to not having enough beers the night before!
